Bob Hope is interviewed during Super Bowl III featuring the Baltimore Colts and the New York Jets at the Orange Bowl on January 12, 1969 in Miami, Florida.
The role that television plays during today's Super Bowl coverage is undeniably important and apparently it was just as critical during the first one ever played. As to be expected however, there were some kinks 43 years ago and Green Bay Packers kicker Don Chandler definitely found that out. Chandler had to kick off twice to start the second half of the game because NBC didn't catch the play on air. The network was busy interviewing Bob Hope and missed the kick. No worries, NBC just extinguished the play from the record books. Oh the power of television.
