The Ottawa Senators received defenceman Matt Gilroy from the Tampa Bay Lightning Monday in exchange for blue-liner Brian Lee.
Gilroy scored two goals and 15 assists in 53 games with Tampa Bay this season. He also talied nine goals and 34 assists In 180 career games with the Lightning and New York Rangers.
The 27-year-old North Bellmore, N.Y., native won the Hobey Baker Award as the top player in the NCAA in his senior season Boston University.
Gilroy comes with a $1-million US cap hit and is scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent on July 1.
Lee, who was picked ninth overall in 2005 by the Senators, posted five goals and 23 assists in 167 career game.
The native of Moorhead, Minn., was taken ninth overall by Ottawa at the 2005 draft.
