Tim Tebow sets an uncommon tone

Tim Tebow is on fire right now. The Denver Broncos quarterback has lead his team to eight wins so far this season, putting them in first place in the AFC West division. But in many ways it's his behaviour, more than his performance, that's attracting the most attention. The devout Christian's humility and sideline prayers stand in stark contrast to the over-the-top boasting we've become accostomed to in professional sports.

One of the reasons we love sports is the emotion. The passion, triumphs and sorrows all happening simultanelously on the field, ice, floor, etc. Those emotions connect us with the athlete, team and game itself. Angry, ugly words can escape the lips of a superstar just as easily as tears can slide down the cheeks of another when overwhelmed with joy. Sometimes these reactions are celebrated, captured in sports montages and highlight reels while other times, they are problematic for the athlete, resulting in fines and apologies and official statements being released. Even Tebow hasn't been without controversy. Something we can all agree on: The world of sports wouldn't be the same without them.
