Former Blue Jays pitcher Paul Quantrill also fibbed about the nature of his off-season injury, first claiming to have suffered a broken leg while tobogganing. But after undergoing surgery, he came clean and admitted he'd been riding a snowmobile in the woods near his Ontario home when he crashed. Turns out both snowmobiling and tobogganing weren't allowed under the terms of Quantrill's contract. Fortunately for Quantrill, the Jays didn't get too mad about him missing nearly half the season, and his only penalty was paying a $60 fine to the Ontario Provincial Police for not reporting the accident.
