John Vanbiesbrouck’s verbal gaffe
Longtime NHL goaltender John Vanbiesbrouck won almost every honour possible during his career between the pipes. After retiring, he became head coach, general manager and part-owner of the OHL's Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds, where he ran into trouble for using a racial slur to describe a black player, defenseman Trevor Daley. The Toronto-born Daley briefly left the team while Vanbiesbrouck apologized and resigned his posts, but held on to his ownership stake.
Daley later rejoined the Greyhounds, and now plays for the Dallas Stars.
