What is it about worldwide sporting spectacles and bad mascots? The Olympics and World Cup soccer present the pinnacle of athletic competition — and the nadir of graphic design. The latest example was unveiled by FIFA on Sunday, the yet-to-be-named mascot of the 2014 World Cup in Brazil. It's a Brazilian endangered armadillo. FIFA said Brazilians will have until mid-November to choose the mascot's name from three choices: Amijubi, Fuleco and Zuzeco. We'll write in "mudo," which is Portuguese for "dumb."
